How is SmoothFiller™ Different to Keratin Hair Treatments?

Unlike keratin hair treatments, this one-of-a-kind service lets you enjoy smoother, easier-to-manage hair without drastically changing your hair texture. So, if you have waves or curls, their beautiful shape will remain. The smoothing effect also softly and gradually fades over time, which means you'll be left with no visible regrowth in between salon visits. Meanwhile, you don’t have to worry about any washing restrictions after your service. Now you can wash your hair as soon as you like with any shampoo you like, even if it’s not a sulfate-free shampoo.

How Long Does a SmoothFiller™ Treatment Last?

With SmoothFiller™, you’ll enjoy refilled and restructured hair with reduced frizz for up to three months, as well as a gradual fading that means you don’t have to worry about visible regrowth. After the three months are over, you can head back to your nearest Wella salon for a touch-up. The results of your treatment are cumulative, which means the more you do it, the smoother your hair will be.

So, How Does SmoothFiller™ Work?

If you’re struggling with frizzy hair, this is usually caused by gaps and tears within the hair shaft, which leave it vulnerable to the effects of humidity. SmoothFiller™ works to refill these gaps with a Smart Delivery System, which ensures the active smoothing ingredient penetrates the hair cuticles into the cortex. Once there, this ingredient refills and restructures the hair fiber from the inside out, building more bonds inside the hair. The result? Less frizz, beautifully luminous shine, and effortless styling.

What Can I Expect When I Go to the Salon?

Ready to book your first SmoothFiller™ service? When you head to your nearest Wella hair salon, the smoothing treatment is completed in three steps, putting you on the fast-track to beautiful hair. Here's what to expect:

Step 1: Preparation

First, your Wella stylist will wash your hair to ensure it’s clean and prepared to absorb the treatment. Then, they’ll blow-dry your hair until it’s around 80% dry. Hair needs to be slightly damp in order for the smoothing treatment to penetrate.

Step 2: Application

Next, SmoothFiller™ is applied. Your stylist will apply the solution evenly on your hair (avoiding the scalp) and then allow it to develop for 20 minutes. Once developed, your hair is thoroughly rinsed. During the development time, the product penetrates inside the hair, then any residue is removed by rinsing.

Step 3: Activation

After the treatment has been rinsed out entirely, your stylist will blow-dry your hair until it’s completely dry. They’ll then flat iron your hair in small sections with multiple passes until every strand has been smoothed out. The heat activates SmoothFiller™’s ingredient to unlock the smoothing results. And just like that, your SmoothFiller™ service is complete.

Hair can be toned with Color Touch, our demi-permanent color, right after, even during the same service appointment, but it’s not necessary. SmoothFiller will give you shinier hair* (*versus untreated hair)
